As I mentioned, the department of education building is terrible for projections because the entire building is covered with windows that break up any large scale images. It’s possible to fit smaller content on the flat surfaces between the windows but because the windows cover so much of the building, it looks pretty unimpressive.

But the good news is that directly across the street from the Department of Education is the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum, which is a big flat wall that makes a beautiful canvas for a projection.

And it may seem a little weird to hold a press event at the Department of Education and not have the Dept of Ed building in the background, but it’s really not. Because of the way that the new Eisenhower Memorial breaks up the plaza there’s really no way to have a press conference at that location without being awkwardly in the middle of a plaza with no Department of Education signage in sight.

If we are able to do the event at night, people speaking at a podium with a projection in the background makes for a really compelling visual.

If a nighttime event isn’t possible the other real possibility is printing the declaration on a banner. We would probably print on standard vinyl but create a graphic design that looks like a parchment paper. Here’s a

This banner was made by our friends at the Backbone Campaign.
For a prop for a press conference we’d probably rig it up on trusses like the ones holding the banner behind the stage at this rally (without the stage, of course).
